After 20 years service to the Hambleton League, Steve Luck will finally say good bye after this weeks game away to Blue Star.
Steve started his Hambleton playing days back in 1988 when he was a centre midfield maestro for Albrough St John then joining Kneeton Park in 1995. Steve also turned out for Cleveland Bridge on a Saturday in the Northern League. Steve never managed to lift the 1st Division title but managed both Cups in the same season, 6 or 7 years ago. After giving Kneeton Park 17 years of his time, Steve gave the final 3 years to Barton (bet he can't remember them). Steve's father, Alan Luck has watched all 20 years for all three clubs no matter what the weather. Steve is going to concentrate on his family life and bringing his 6 year old son on who has just signed for Richmond Town, like his Dad, destined for big things!! There will be a huge sigh of relief after Sundays game, knowing he wont have to trip over the ball anymore or pass the ball to the opposition or even endure a mild panic attack or stroke. Hopefully those attributes will not be passed onto his son!!
Steve will don the captains arm band against Blue Star on Sunday which will be his final game before he hangs his boots up. Steve will be carried from the field on players Shoulder's, saluting the crowd. Please feel free to leave any messages of best wishes.
On behalf of Barton Football Club, I would like to thank you very much for all you have done, for both Kneeton and Barton and wish you all the very best for the future.
